About Orthotics
An orthotic is a custom arch support for the foot, which by improving structural alignment and restricting and enhancing motion, reduces or eliminates pain in areas such as feet, ankles, knees, hips and lower back.
In combination with strengthening or stretching exercises they correct anomalies in alignment and gait and prevent the development of strain or pain.
Orthotic design is dependent on injury, foot type, lifestyle and footwear.
Shoes
Properly designed and fitted footwear are essential to the function of your orthotics. At the end of the assessment, shoe recommendations are given. However, it is usually recommended to wait until you receive the orthotics before you shop, just to ensure the most ideal fit.
3. Occupational InjuryMarble City Physiotherapy is pleased to announce that we now offer these state-of-the-art specialised treatment services for the management of musculskeletal tissue pain syndromes.
Extra Corporal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) directs thousands of targeted shock wave pulses to the affected area. The shockwave is a physical shock not an electric one. ESWT causes a controlled micro-trauma at the lesion site. The body responds with increased metabolic activity around the site of pain. A mild inflammation ensues and scar tissue is broken down as well as calcification. This stimulates and accelerates the healing process.
